Halfguard Attacks
Overview:
Class 15 Halfguard Attacking
Warmups: Kimura situps from closed guard, bridging, bridging to turtle position, hand post to bridge to knees.
Part 1 - Kimura from halfguard bottom (XX:25)
Part 1.1: Basic kimura finish sequence from halfguard
Control the wrist on the mat with right hand.
Come up on right elbow to sit up reach over their elbow with left arm.
Looping over and behind the elbow with your left hand, grab your right wrist for kimura grip.
Position their hand behind their back.
Use feet to slide hips under partner to turn onto your left hip.
Finish kimura by turning their hand towards the back of their head.
Part 1.2: Using kneeshield to help pull the arm out.
Control the wrist on the mat with right hand.
Come up on right elbow to sit up reach over their elbow with left arm.
Looping over and behind the elbow with your left hand, grab your right wrist for kimura grip.
*Partner adds some resistance and hides hand in front of their body.*
Slide left knee across their hip to use as a wedge, ensuring right leg firmly hooked around their leg.
Using shin as a frame, pull arm backwards to extract their hand and immediately place behind their back.
Use feet to slide hips under partner to turn onto your left hip.
Finish kimura by turning their hand towards the back of their head.
Part 2 - Kimura hip bump sweep from halfguard (XX:45)
Part 2.1: Hip bump sweep when partner has tight defence.
Control the wrist on the mat with right hand.
Come up on right elbow to sit up reach over their elbow with left arm.
Looping over and behind the elbow with your left hand, grab your right wrist for kimura grip.
*Partner hides hand in front of their body and brings their chest to cover their left elbow.*
Use feet to move right to connect hips to their hips.
Bridge hips up and into them while looking over your right shoulder to sweep.
*Part 2.2: Passing to side control after sweep and finishing side kimura.
Starting from after hip bump sweep and kimura still locked.
Use right hand to pass their wrist to your left hand to secure.
Use free right hand to open legs to pull leg out to side control.
Switch back to kimura grip.
Position right hip over their right shoulder.
Step left foot above their head.
Lean back and elevate elbow to finish kimura.
Situational:
Starting with locked kimura in halfguard.
A-person (bottom) wins by:
extracting hand and placing behind the back for 3 seconds or
getting a hip bump sweep.
B-person (top) wins by:
avoiding having hand placed behind back/being swept and freeing legs to side control.
Breaking free of the kimura grip.
