Overview:

Class 16 Closed Guard Part 2

Warm up: Kimura sit-ups from guard. Stationary hip escapes (turn, reset). Bridging. Bridging to knees.

Part 1 - Kimura from closed guard (XX:25)

Part 1.1 - Hands starting on the mat

  1. Grab wrist

  2. Sit up and lock keeping guard locked

  3. Step and angle

  4. Apply finish

Part 1.2 - Getting hands from hips to mat

  1. Knuckles behind the wrists

  2. Circle hands in and catch wrists on mat

  3. Continue on using part 1.1

Part 2 - Hip bump sweep (XX:43)

Part 2.1 - Starting from postured praying defence 🙏

  1. Post hand and put both feet on mat

  2. Bridge hip and connect to their belly

  3. Bridge push and turn hips to ground

Part 2.2 - Inside leg grab defence

  1. Start from locked kimura from closed guard

  2. Defend inside leg grip

  3. Post hand and put both feet on mat

  4. Secure/block the arm

  5. Bridge hip and connect to their belly

  6. Bridge push and turn hips to ground

* Part 2.3 - Posting on the hip bump back to kimura

  1. Start with inside leg defence

  2. Attempt hip bump and partner posts

  3. Use momentum to fall back aim hand behind the back

Situational:

Situational Option 1 (Securing the kimura lock)

  • Starting in closed guard

  • A-person (bottom) wins by locking up the kimura grip only or executing a hip bump sweep.

  • B-person (top) wins by getting to side control or halfguard.

Situational Option 2 (Executing from kimura lock)

  • Starting with leg inside grab defence position

  • A-person (bottom) wins by extracting arm and putting hand behind the back only or executing a hip bump sweep.

  • B-person (top) defends for 20 seconds or gets to side control or halfguard.
